Summary

Oliver Huckel retells the story of Parsifal an opera in three acts by Richard Wagner. It was based on Wolfram von Eschenbach's Parzival, the 13th century epic poem about the Arthurian knight Parzival (Percival) and his quest for the Holy Grail. Parsifal sees the suffering of the wounded Amfortas, who is part of knights who guard the Grail. Parsifal enters the domain of Klingsor, a magician who is trying to corrupt the Knights of the Grail. Klingsor has stolen the spear used to pierce Jesus during his crucifixion. Later Parsifal meets Kundry, the slave of Klingsor, who attempts to seduce him. In resisting her, he destroys Klingsor, and recovers the Spear. Finally Parsifal returns to the Grail Kingdom to heal Amfortas.
