El actualmente reside en San Francisco, una urbe populosa y cosmopolita, pero no ha podido olvidar los detalles más íntimos de su tierra natal. El recuerda muy nítidamente todo lo relacionado con El Salvador: sus volcanes, la sabrosa harina de maíz, los cuentos de su abuela. Todo se conecta de a dos en la memoria de este muchacho que vive un proceso desgarrador de reajuste cultural. Hay poesía en este relato cargado de sufrimiento que, al mismo tiempo, dibuja el lado tierno de ese proceso cambiante.
