Author Biography

Martin M. Antony, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University. He is also the Chief Psychologist and Director of the Anxiety Treatment and Research Centre at St. Joseph's Healthcare in Hamilton, Ontario. He has published eleven books and more than eighty articles and book chapters in the areas of cognitive behavioral therapy, panic disorder, social phobia, specific phobia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Dr. Antony has received early career awards from the Society of Clinical Psychology (American Psychological Association), the Canadian Psychological Association, and the Anxiety Disorders Association of America, and is a Fellow of the American and Canadian Psychological Associations. He was recently President of the Anxiety Disorders Special Interest Group of the Association for Advancement of Behavior Therapy (AABT) and was Program Chair for the 2001 AABT meeting, as well as for the 2003 convention of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America. Dr. Antony is actively involved in clinical research in the area of anxiety disorders, teaching and education, and maintains a clinical practice.
